ice skates blades
How do you ice skate directly on the blades?

I'm a beginning skater and I can take steps but the steps are always on the inside or the outside. I can't step directly on top of the skate blades. I also can't stand directly on top, my feet are always tilted. This also leads to skating sideways on the inside or outside of the blade. How can I directly on it instead of sideways? Skating tips much appreciated!

If you are wearing rental skates, that could be the problem. Or it could be that you need to work on your ankle strength. To help with that, always make sure you stand (on and off ice) with all of your weight in the middle of your foot. Never lean your ankles in because that could cause injury.

Good Luck!
