Snowboarding Holiday- What will I need and what should I expect?
Me and a group of mates are considering going on a snowboarding holiday sometimes next year (we are in very early stages of planning). Anyways I've never been snowboarding or skiiing or anything ever before. I can skateboard and I can also ice skate so I'm hoping i should pick it up alright.
What should I expect and also what kind of things will I need (eg clothes, equipment etc)

When planning a boarding drip well in advance it's best to be prepared for everything. You may end up riding in 2 foot powder during a blizzard or riding on slosh in the hot sun. For clothing you will want water proof gloves, pants, and a jacket. Then layers you can wear under them if it's cold.
As for gear I recommend goggles, wrist guards (if your snowboarding) and a helmet. You can rent board, boots, and bindings.
The reason I said "if your snowboarding" is because you may want to look at skiing. Skiing and ice skating have a lot of movements in common. The balance is the same as well as the ankle and knee movements. Skateboarding and snowboarding have less in common. If your going only once for a few days then your going to have more fun doing something that you can pick up a lot quicker.
Now for the cash issues. Your going to have to plan ahead here. Check out the website of the resort your going go to to get ticket prices and rental prices. Most places will have multi day deals. What you need to do is get a piece of paper and right down the costs PER DAY. Lift ticket, gear rental, lessons (I'll get to those) lodging, food (decide on resort food, off resort food, or packing your own food), and any extra spending money. Then multiply that by the amount of days you'll be at the resort. Then you have to add in travel expenses. Are you flying or driving? If driving then figure out the gas prices plus random gas station food. If flying then airport food/snacks, and you'll also have to figure out how your going to get from airport to lodging to resort. Again some places will have shuttle deals if you stay at a hotel in a resort town. And make sure that EVERYONE is willing to bring the same amount of cash. You don't want to be buying food for some of your friends that didn't budget well.
Finally lessons. I always recommend taking lessons at least the first day, skiing or snowboarding. This will make your experience much better for the whole trip. Not only will you be able to ride/ski more of the mountain, but you'll end up riding/skiing safer. No one wants to ruin a trip because they got hurt on the first day and have to lay around in a hotel for a week.
